Rebecca's Work Experience:

Small Consulting Business Owner For the past 20 years, I ran a small business that provided project management services for clients in the Twin Cities and Philadelphia. My clients would hire me to solve a problem or plan a project and manage. I had to quickly assess the issues, gain input from experts, create strategies and solutions, gain approval from the team, and successfully complete the project within the given budget and deadlines.

County Government I have worked on several projects at Scott County including creating and leading a portion of the Scott County 2030 strategic planning process for the People and Public Safety Project Team. I have also developed and led planning meetings for the Scott County Library Board with an emphasis on digital age services. I also helped implement the state-mandated Community Health Assessment process for Scott County in 2007 to address Emergency Preparedness, Illness Prevention, and future Wellness/Healthy Community initiatives. For this, I led 27 discussion groups including students, seniors, general citizens, Hispanic, Russian, and Cambodian representatives throughout Scott County––including 3 here in Prior Lake!

Health Care I have worked in Human Resources, Training, Marketing and Communications, Strategic Planning, and Administration in hospitals, a mental health facility, and the bio-medical industry. I have had supervisory, budgeting, data assessment, and financial analysis experience along with extensive communication, planning, and management responsibilities.

Public Speaker I have given hundreds of talks to high schools, colleges, community groups, churches, professional associations, businesses, and conferences locally and nationally. I am very comfortable in front of groups whether speaking, listening, explaining issues, or answering questions. In fact, I have spoken at several events here in Prior Lake. (See below)

Teacher I taught Video production, writing, and 10th grade English at Forest Lake High School. I currently substitute about one day a week at the high school.

Rebecca's Volunteer Activities:
Prior Lake Citizen Representative for 2030 Planning Process For the past several years, I have volunteered as a citizen representative in Prior Lake's ambitious and visionary strategic planning process. I attended two in-depth strategic planning retreats and participated in strategy groups on transportation and communications planning.

City Planning As a student, I interned in the City of Roseville's Planning Department helping the planning staff to address rapid residential growth, infrastructure needs, and citizen concerns. This was my first experience with city government!

Schools I have volunteered at Westwood, Grainwood, Hidden Oaks Middle School, and Prior Lake High School for my daughter's classrooms and school activities. I chaperoned trips to the Science Museum, Children's Theater, The Children's Museum and to ELC (the 5th grade week-long trip). I worked at classroom special events and helped my daughter's former Girl Scout troop leader, Sandi Fleck, who is now our Director of Prior Lake's Chamber of Commerce! I loved every minute of handing out band uniforms as a Band Booster; baking cakes for cast and crew in the theater departments, selling tickets and flowers for school plays, staffing concessions stands as a "Speech Mom;" and hosting cast parties and speech practices at my home. Finally, I have been honored to be called upon to speak to parents and students in the community for several special events including our local Parent Fair.

Church I try to get in at least one day of volunteering (and shopping!!) for the wonderful Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church Annual Garage Sale put on by the women's s organization, WELCA, to support its charity activities.
